The Quilvio Cabrera Wind Farm, located in the southwest side of the Dominican Republic in the provinces of Pedernales, in Juancho.

The Quilvio Cabrera Wind Farm has five (5) Vestas V82-1.65 MW wind turbines. The wind farm has an installed capacity of 8.25 MW, generating at 600V and 60 Hz. The voltage is increased to 34.5kV using step-up transformers located in the base of the towers. It is then sent to a substation through an underground cabling system, where power transformers step-up from 34.5kV to 138kV, and ultimately the energy is delivered to the Dominican electrical grid.

The Quilvio Cabrera Wind Farm, constitutes an important contribution to the diversification of the country’s energy generation mix, producing 8.25 MW of green or clean energy, and helping the Dominican Republic save around 45,000 barrels of oil every year, and avoiding the annual release of around 11,000 tons of CO2.
